A longer excursion may gain more territory, but it also keeps your trail exposed for longer. Rival trails create opportunities to cut another player’s route before they close a loop. The 3D board makes the growing shapes visible while the basic decision remains one of distance, timing and risk.

Start with loops you can finish comfortably. A small safe expansion gives you a better starting position for the next move, while an ambitious route can become difficult to protect. Watch nearby rivals before leaving your boundary and keep a direct return path in mind. If a rival exposes a trail, compare the opportunity with the danger of exposing your own. Territory is valuable because you can keep it and build from it, so choosing when to return matters as much as choosing where to go.
